LA Contemporary Dance Company's Commercial Debut
Jen Jones, Contributing Editor | February 20, 2008
Back in the 50s, there were these super-cool synchronized swimming films starring Esther Williams (a Hollywood diva in her day). Her movies featured breathtaking aerial shots of the swimmers dancing in the water, inspiring tons of choreographers even today. Well, this rockin’ American Apparel commercial is what might happen if you mixed Esther Williams with a bit of 80’s neon and “Fame!” The commercial is part of a series celebrating the 70th anniversary of nylon, and who better to rock the nylons than the LA Contemporary Dance Company (whom you might remember from our Modern spotlight in this month’s issue)?
