"DWTS: Juniors" Week 4 Recap: Halloween Night

October 29, 2018

Halloween Night on “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” brought all the tricks and even a few treats. It’s almost spooky to see how much progress many of these young dancers have made since their first week on the show. And there was no better way to showcase their improvement than on Halloween Night, as the holiday really lends itself to the fun themes that the show is all about.

This week Alana Thompson (Honey Boo Boo) and partner Tristan Ianiero performed a fabulous jazz routine to the Ghostbusters theme song. Alana gave her all on the dance floor and really got into character, with the high point of her performance being a fun body roll. On top of that, everything from the choreography to the sliming at the very end made for a riveting routine that you just didn’t want to end. Even Mandy Moore was impressed with Alana’s musicality and technique.

“Jazz is all about weight transfer; It’s about direction change; It’s about sitting in the pocket with musicality and you definitely did all of those things,” Moore said.

Alana received 7’s from all three judges, giving her an all around score of 21. Though she was voted off that night, we couldn’t help but be impressed by her progress as a dancer. Though Alana’s performances may not have always been the strongest, the reality TV star always did her best and strove to make each performance better than her last one. That’s what dance is all about—competing with yourself and being the best dancer YOU can be. Well done, Alana!
