Catching Up with Cover Model Search Finalist Haley Hartsfield
We’re thrilled for our Cover Model Search winner Kaylin Maggard—but we also love our two runners-up, Haley Hartsfield and Michelle Quiner! We talked to Haley about how life has changed since her NYC visit for the contest.
What have you been up to since your trip to NYC?
I’ve been to Nationals in NYC, and have been preparing for college auditions. I taught a camp for younger kids at my studio (Academy of Dance Arts in Dallas, TX), and trained at The Elite with Kim McSwain. I also did The Wanderlust Dance Project in Dallas this summer. It’s basically a bunch of dancers forming a summer company to put on a series of performances.

How did you campaign during the voting period?
By posting everywhere! Allen Image (my hometown’s magazine) came out with an article about me, and Star Local Media posted an article, too. Otherwise, it was all about Instagram and social media. I reached out to teachers and mentors to help spread the word.
What was your favorite part of the Cover Model Search experience?
Definitely going through it with the other girls. That was the really fun part.
How do you think you’ve grown since the trip?
I’ve become more social. I’ve met and gotten to talk to more people. Spreading the word was more fun than I thought it would be.
What are your goals for the coming year?
Getting into the colleges on my list, and assisting my teachers. I’m going to be traveling with several teachers to dance festivals and to help them set pieces. I’m really excited.
What’s your advice for CMS hopefuls?
Be yourself! That’s what my mom tells me. Everyone likes getting to know someone with a good personality, and you don’t want to be fake.
