Why Do You Dance?

We know that dance is a way to communicate without words. And sometimes it feels like the only way to communicate. The Huffington Post asked dancers from top companies around the U.S. (and a few students, too!) why they dance. The answers range from simple and sweet, to deeply emotional. We’re especially touched by how many dancers expressed they want to take their audience on a journey. We love fancy tricks here in the DS office, but sometimes we feel overwhelmed by all the high kicks and zillions of pirouettes we see on the daily. It’s great to know that dancers are still dedicated to their artistry, despite all the grumps that say ballet is turning into a circus act.

We bet you guys have a similar range of reasons why you choose to dance! Let us know in the comments below.
