"DWTS" Week 1: We're in for an Awesome Season

March 21, 2016

Oh, how we’ve missed the glitter and glitz that is ballroom dance. Thankfully, Season 22 of “Dancing with the Stars” kicked off with a bang last night. We were seriously impressed with the level of dancing pulled off by the pairs so early on. Also, the energy and stage presence were off the charts!

So, let’s get down to business. Who scored the highest? Any audience faves so far?

Well first, three couples are currently tied for first place. Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd, Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold, and Ginger Zee and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, who all scored 23/30.

The “America’s Next Top Model” winner, Nyle, is a breakout star and is gearing up to be a super fan fave. Which was proven in his fierce cha cha to “Cake by the Ocean” with his always flawless partner, Peta. The. chemistry. was. insane.

Wanya and Lindsay also danced a cha cha, that was full of fun personality and seriously solidifies their front runner status.

Ginger showed off her adorable and bubbly personality in her jive with partner Valentin to “Move” from Dreamgirls. And the judges were wayyyyyy impressed.

And then there were the FOUR couples who all tied for second place with a 21/30 score: Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess, Marla Maples and Tony Dovolani, Von Miller and Witney Carson, and Paige Vanzant and Mark Ballas.

Another stand-out moment was Jodie Sweetin and partner Keo Motsepe‘s sassy and fabulous tango. The all-grown-up Stephanie Tanner wowed with her performance and they scored a 20/30. And their pairing was a true audience fave thanks to their playful opening: A spoof on the “Full House” opening sequence, titled “Dance House.” It also doesn’t hurt that they’re just so flipping cute together.

Overall, we’re super excited to see how the season plays out and we’re thinking these contestants are going to give each other some very real competition.

Do you agree? Let us know who your favorites are!
