"DWTS" Week 6 Recap: Disney Week
Last night was Disney Night on “Dancing with the Stars”, aka everyone’s favorite evening. And the magic was palpable as the contestants transformed into some of the most beloved Disney characters. Everyone from Mulan to Hercules made an appearance on the show—and the dancing was as enchanting as the fairytales they were portraying. Read on for the highlights of the night.
Alexis Ren & Alan Bersten
Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten made our jaws drop and our eyes moist with their beautiful rendition of “Just Around the Riverbend” from Pocahontas. Let’s be honest: You can never go wrong with a song from Pocahontas! But it wasn’t just the song choice that made this routine so fun to watch. Alexis’ ability to glide across the floor seamlessly is truly mesmerizing and she can probably thank her former ballet training for that. Throughout this performance it was also evident that these two partners share a lot of respect for each other and we’re all about that kind of team work. The judges rewarded their fabulous foxtrot a 29 out of 30—a well-earned, practically perfect score.
Juan Pablo Di Pace & Cheryl Burke
From start to finish Cheryl Burke and Juan Pablo Di Pace owned the stage last night. Their performance of Beauty and the Beast‘s “Gaston” was practically electric! Di Pace perfectly embodied Gaston’s manly bravado while Burke brought the sass. And with the help of the rest of the dance troupe, the audience felt like they were on the set of the live action Beauty and the Beast. The judges were as starry eyed over this performance as the audience and gave this spicy Viennese Waltz a 29 out of 30.
Milo Manheim & Witney Carson
Milo Manheim and Witney Carson’s performance lived up to the characters they embodied: it was INCREDIBLE! This quickstep routine was fearless and fast and Manheim and Carson really seemed to enjoy themselves. In between rescuing “DWTS” host Tom Bergeron this duo’s piece was a “blockbuster—Bring on the sequel,” judge Bruno Tonioli said. The upbeat number earned Manheim and Carson a solid 27.
And keeping with the Disney theme, everyone enjoyed a fairytale ending since no one was eliminated this week. Talk about a “happily ever after”! For now at least…
