"DWTS" Week 5 Recap: Disney Classics Dazzle on the Dance Floor
Week five of “Dancing with the Stars” proved to be one of the best weeks of the season so far. (And we’re not just saying that because Mickey made a cameo debut on the piano during one of the routines—although that certainly didn’t hurt!) Everyone brought their A-game, and with such a fun theme the contestants were able to really let their guards down. There was true sincerity in their dancing that we hadn’t seen before. But not all Disney stories end with a “happily ever after,” and one couple still had to hang up their dancing shoes.
If there’s one week you should watch all the routines of it’s undoubtedly this one… But, ICYMI, scroll below for our highlights of the night.
Jordan Fisher & Lindsay Arnold
We can’t say we’re surprised by Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold’s jaw-dropping performance —the pair has been the one to watch since the beginning, and they only seem to be getting better and better. Their chemistry was unreal, plus, finding out that Fisher is a total perfectionist made the couple’s first perfect score that much sweeter. (It was also the first perfect score awarded this season!) And you really just can’t go wrong with the up-beat “You’re Welcome” from “Moanna,” especially when Fisher’s vocals are carrying the tune. Seriously, is there anything he can’t do?! We just don’t have enough thumbs to give this routine the praise it deserves.
Frankie Muniz & Witney Carson
Sultry may be the last thing you think of when it comes to Frankie Muniz, but there’s nothing like a tango to bring out his passionate side. Muniz channeled his inner Johnny Depp as he and partner Witney Carson gave one of the best performances of the night—the judges gave them a score of 29. The only real hiccup of the dance was when Carson’s heel got caught on her skirt. Despite that, it was truly a surprise to learn they ended up in the bottom two couples. Luckily, these two will have another shot on the dance floor and we’ll get to continue to follow the transformation of Muniz from former child actor to a mean, lean, dancing machine.
Sasha Pieterse & Gleb Savchenko
Though Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko ended the night as the couple going home, we felt it was worth mentioning the improvement we’ve seen in Pieterse’s performances. It can’t be easy struggling with polycystic ovary syndrome and learning how to dance, but Pieterse persevered, brought some serious stage presence, and gave each and every performance her all. We wish nothing but the best for the “Pretty Little Liars” star!
