Free People Finally Gets It Right, And Teams Up With a Real Ballerina
We love when fashion and ballet collide because when done right, the results are breathtaking bliss! So when we heard Free People was teaming up with a real ballet dancer for a fashionable, fun, and fitness-filled promotional event, we couldn’t help but get giddy.
It looks like Free People is turning over a new leaf from is 2014 debacle, when they featured an untrained dancer in one of their commercials. The ad presented a “ballet dancer” with atrocious technique and sickled feet, which sparked a back lash from dancers around the web. Now, it looks like Free People has learned its lesson and is using Dance Theater of Harlem ballet dancer Alison Stroming to teach dance classes at their Moving Together event, on Governor’s Island this Saturday. The event will also include a yoga class, nutritious snacks, and of course a Free People pop-up shop where you can buy the latest threads from the Free People Movement collection.
We’re looking forward to the balletic insta posts that will result from this inspired collaboration! Till then, enjoy this perfect promo!
