I always “hitch” when transitioning from the side to the back during grands ronds de jambe. How can I make my grands ronds smoother?
You’re not alone! Grands ronds de jambe are not easy. There are two tricks that can help you, though. First, try to think of reaching out with your toe as much as you can, like you’re trying to touch each wall of the room. That should help that little “hitch” movement as you pass from side to back. You can also try shifting your focus to the supporting leg. Oftentimes we grip the working leg too much because we are so focused on trying to get it up. So put all of your focus on the supporting hip and it’ll take some of that pressure off the working leg. Be sure to also lift through the waist. The more you sink, the harder it is.
