Support Kathryn Morgan's Fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey Relief

September 5, 2017

Former New York City Ballet soloist (and our “Dear Katie” advice columnist) Kathryn Morgan recently moved to Houston—and watched, horrified, as Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc on her new hometown last week. While she and her family are OK, she wanted to do something to help the tens of thousands of Houstonians who aren’t so lucky. So she’s created a fundraiser rooted in the thing she knows best: dance.

Morgan has partnered with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where she’s currently on faculty, for the multi-part fundraiser, which is gathering money for local relief organizations. If you’re in the Houston area, mark September 16 on your calendars: That day, RAFA will host an event including master classes with Morgan and a few other big-name dancers; an in-studio performance with some of the school’s talented young students; and a silent auction featuring items like private lessons with Morgan. There’s also a YouCaring page that anyone, anywhere can donate to for the next two weeks.

Watch Morgan’s video about the fundraiser below. And if you haven’t already, be sure to donate to Break the Floor’s fundraiser, too, which has already raised over $100,000 for Houston-area dance studios.
