STOP: There's a Britney Spears Musical in the Works

Hold on to your crop tops: It sounds like Broadway might be getting a piece of Britney. EEE!

Well, not Ms. Spears herself, or at least not that we know of. But Forbes recently reported that Brit’s managers met with Broadway veteran Jerry Mitchell to discuss making a jukebox musical out of her epic song catalog.

As the award-winning director/choreographer of Kinky Boots and Legally Blonde—and the guy who helped translate Gloria Estefan’s story for the stage in On Your Feet!—Mitchell seems like the perfect person for the job. He did squash some of our dreams, though, by saying that unlike On Your Feet!, the Britney production will not be autobiographical.

Too bad, since the fine folks over at Slate have already come up with an amazing idea for a classic Broadway “dream ballet” telling the Princess of Pop’s life story.
