3 New Principals and 1 New Soloist for American Ballet Theatre!
Congratulations to Sarah Lane, Calvin Royal III, Christine Shevchenko, and Devon Teuscher! A few minutes ago, it was announced that they’ve all risen to new ranks at American Ballet Theatre here in NYC.
Calvin Royal III is now a soloist. After winning numerous scholarships and grants while training, he rose from apprentice to the corps de ballet in 2011, and has since guested with Misty Copeland in Cinderella.

Sarah Lane—who made news as Natalie Portman’s dance double in Black Swan—is now a principal dancer. She’s seen a Met season of one triumph after another, from dancing Princess Praline in the NYC premiere of Whipped Cream to rave reviews of her Giselle.
Christine Shevchenko—featured in Dance Spirit back when she was an apprentice with ABT—is now a principal dancer. Shevchenko has been with ABT since 2006, when she joined the Studio Company.
Devon Teuscher, who gave DS The Dirt in 2015, is now a principal dancer. Last month, she and fellow Swan Queens Misty Copeland and Isabella Boylston told the world what it’s really like to dance Odette/Odile.
Congratulations to all four amazing #BalletBosses!
