The Very Absolute Best of #DrakeAlwaysOnBeat
Last spring, the internets blessed us with #BeyonceAlwaysOnBeat—a celebration of the fact that no matter what song you throw behind her, Queen Bey always looks like a queen.
This week, #DrakeAlwaysOnBeat began an internet-breaking process that is still very much ongoing. But setting clips from Drake’s new “Hotline Bling” video—which features turtleneck sweaters, a crew of receptionists in trucker hats and some very awkward Drizzy moves—to everything from merengue to the “Rugrats” theme song is less a tribute to Drake’s amazingness (which, let’s establish right now, is real!) and more an extended giggle at the fact that no matter the musical context, he looks like a 45-year-old dad.
Poor Drizzy.
Or, actually, no: Don’t feel bad for Drake. It’s pretty much inevitable that “Hotline Bling” is going to take over the world at this point, and that is thanks in no small part to the army of brilliant #DrakeAlwaysOnBeat remixers giving us gems like these.
