About the Competitions

New York City Dance Alliance was founded in 1993 by executive director Joe Lanteri, who wanted to create a dance convention with a cutting-edge point of view based in the dance capital of the world, New York City. His goal was to reinvent the dance convention with a new focus on education and the dancers’ experience, as well as high-level production values. NYCDA has remained at the forefront of the dance convention industry ever since. Today, the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation and its College Scholarship Program invest in the future of the NYCDA family, helping young dancers take the next step in their lives.

The PULSE on Tour

The PULSE, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, offers a unique educational experience for dancers of all levels thanks to its faculty of working dance professionals. PULSE instructors can be seen on television (on shows like “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The X Factor,” “America’s Got Talent” and “Glee”), directing music videos (for stars including Justin Bieber, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Pink, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj), dancing on tours for leading recording artists, and choreographing for movies, commercials, Broadway productions, and distinguished dance companies. PULSE faculty and staff are dedicated to building genuine relationships through personal interaction with all attendees—dancers, parents and teachers.
