Beyonce Channels Bob Fosse

Surely by now you’ve seen Beyonce’s super-dancey video for her hit, Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It). Aside from the fact that the song is awesome (I can’t listen to it without dancing… I’m dancing in my chair right now. Seriously.), there’s a bit of dance history behind the video’s choreography. It’s totally Bob Fosse-inspired!
In the 1960s, Fosse choreographed a piece for the Ed Sullivan Show starring leading lady, Gwen Verdon (and, for many, the original face of Fosse). Check out the striking resemblance to Beyonce’s slammin’ video!
