Cha Cha with Cheryl Burke!

June 30, 2008

I have a confession:  I’m addicted to reality tv.  And while I don’t love all the dance reality televison shows, I have given all of them a chance (one regret: Your Mama Don’t Dance, I’m sorry, but that was all kinds of terrible).  My favorites?  So You Think You Can Dance (of course) and Dancing with the Stars.

For all the readers out there who are also fans of DWTS, I just found out about something that you’d love!  DWTS’ pro and two-time champion Cheryl Burke is teaching Cha Cha master classes in San Francisco at her studio, Cheryl Burke Dance.  I have to say, I fell in love with Cheryl’s dancing when she was Drew Lachey’s partner and have been a fan ever since.  She’s had so many great moments on the show.  Who could forget her country-themed freestyle dance with Drew, and her amazing choreography at the end of this season when she had to work all her movement around Cristián de la Fuente’s injured arm?  And then there’s her wardrobe… whoa, I didn’t know a dress could be that backless.

Anyway, if you want to Cha Cha with Cheryl, and you’re in the San Francisco area, you can attend one of three classes open to all levels on July 25.  The classes are 45 minutes long and begin at 3, 4:15, and 5:30 PM.  In addition to your class, you’re also invited to the studio’s ballroom and social dance party that night!  Sounds like a fun and exciting night for any aspiring ballroom dancers!

It’s $100 for the master class and entrance to the party, and there are only 30 spots available in each class.  I think these openings will go fast, so call Cheryl Burke Dance (415.252.9000) to sign up.  For more info on these and other classes at Cheryl’s studio check out www.cherylburkedance.com

Can’t get enough of Cheryl?  Be sure to pick up the September issue of Dance Spirit!
