Chloe & Maud Arnold Made an Amazing Tap Tribute to #MarchForOurLives
What do you do when the DC Tap Festival coincides with a history-making protest? You dance about it.
That’s exactly what Chloe and Maud Arnold made happen during the tenth annual DC Tap Fest, which saw students from 30 states and 20 countries converge on Washington, DC from March 19 to March 25, 2018 to take classes, perform, and—naturally!—jam with an all-star faculty.
Of course, something just as huge was happening mere miles away on March 24: namely, The March for Our Lives. In solidarity with and inspired by the marchers—and hoping to spread a message of hope, unity, and change for a better tomorrow—Chloe Arnold choreographed “TAP INTO U.N.I.T.Y.” for both Fest participants and tons of tap royalty you’ll definitely recognize. (Hey there, Michelle Dorrance!)
Filmed just hours after the march concluded, the clip (directed and associate-choreographed by Becca Nelson) is danced to a DC Tap Fest-specific remix of Queen Latifah’s “U.N.I.T.Y.” Oh yeah, and the students learned this choreo in just two days. Unity indeed!
