Dance for the Planet

March 30, 2011

Get ready for the 15th annual Dance for the Planet Festival, April 16-17 at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Presented by the Dance Council of North Texas, the festival aims to build interest, enthusiasm and support for dance of all kinds. This year’s FREE two-day extravaganza features 30 master classes to choose from. It’s a dream come true for dancers of all ages and skill levels.

Start your morning off with a Rhythms Movement or Mat Pilates class. Take a break at 11:00 a.m. to meet Burn the Floor guest artists and “So You Think You Can Dance” alums Pasha Kovalev, Anya Garnis and Janette Manrara. After lunch, get your adrenaline pumping with a Zumba or Swing class. Up for something different? Try an Afro-Modern dance class with Michelle Gibson or an Afro-Caribbean class with Millicent Johnnie.

Dance Planet 15 also includes a free performance showcase featuring more than 80 dance groups performing hip-hop, ballet, tap, tango, flamenco and folkloric pieces.
