Dance New Amsterdam Needs You!

If you’re a dancer in NYC, you’ve probably taken class or seen a performance at Dance New Amsterdam. At the very least, you’ve heard of DNA, an institution in the city’s downtown dance scene. DNA offers a variety of programs for artists, commissions choreographers and houses a 130-seat theater, which showcases a wide array of performances each year.

Now, the 26-year-old organization, located in lower Manhattan, is fighting to stay in their current location.

Catherine Peila, executive director of DNA, has led the organization since 2008, reducing expenses and the organization’s deficit immensely, while increasing income. Despite these efforts, DNA is still unable to meet the financial requirements of their lease agreement with Fram Realty. Currently, DNA has a legal team and advocates searching for ways to resolve the situation and avoid eviction; however, the organization is asking for your support.
