Dancewave's Dancing Through College & Beyond

October 14, 2014

OK, high school juniors, how are you holding up? Over the next couple of months, the seniors will launch into the final stage of the college application process. You know what that means? All that attention—all those “so, have you thought about where you want to go to school?” questions—will turn to you guys.

Don’t freak out. You’ve got this.

We’ve told you about a bunch of resources out there for college-bound dancers. For starters, there’s our September higher-ed issue, which features all kinds of college-related articles—info about the different kinds of dance degrees, college myths debunked, all about student-run companies and our 2014 Higher Ed Guide. When you’ve read that cover to cover, you should check out the 2014/2015 Dance Magazine College Guide. Prepare to breathe a sigh of relief as you flip through pages of info on merit-based scholarships, suggested timelines for the application process, advice from pros (like Sonya Tayeh!) and outlines of 615 college dance programs.

Where can I get my hands on this magical book of awesomeness, you ask? You can pick up a discounted copy this Sunday, October 19, at Dancewave’s Dancing Through College & Beyond, hosted by Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. At the all-day event, you’ll also get to speak to representatives of top dance programs, network with current students and alumni, participate in movement classes led by college dance faculty, listen in on panel discussions about the application process and attend an evening showcase of live performances by seven different dance programs—all for FREE. Space is limited, so click here to reserve your spot (and here for more info).

Can’t make it to NYC this weekend? No worries: You can still order your copies of the September issue of Dance Spirit and the 2014/2015 Dance Magazine College Guide online. Click here for DS and here for the DMCG. And good luck!
