"Dancing with the Stars" Season 11, Week 6 Elimination

October 26, 2010

Last night’s episode was filled with surprises! Here’s a quick rundown of the good, the bad and the strange.

The Good:

Travis Wall choreographed last night’s Macy’s Stars of Dance performance. Though the fact that he produced stellar choreography wasn’t really surprising, last night’s piece still wowed me. Wall managed to take a pack of pro dancers (including a few of our faves, like Nick Lazzarini, Adrian Lee and Channing Cooke, to name a few!) and make them work seamlessly with the uuber-talented show choir from John Burroughs High School and a group of teen musicians from School of Rock. It was two minutes of high-octane dance and fun music (I’ll never get tired of “We Will Rock You”). If you haven’t seen it, be sure to find it online right away! I rewound my DVR three times so I could watch again and again.

The Bad:

Audrina and Tony were eliminated from the competition! I’ll admit, I’ve never been Audrina’s biggest fan, but I still think it was way too early for her to be cut loose. Her performance quality always left a lot to be desired, but she showed significant and consistent growth throughout the competition. Her technical prowess (compared to that of her competitors) kept her near the top of the judges’ scoreboard right to the end. It’s a shame that America didn’t give her the support she deserved.

The Strange:

We learned that washed up rock stars like Alice Cooper, Dee Snyder and Bret Michaels (that guy will do anything to get in front of a camera these days) like watching televised ballroom dance competitions. Go figure.

So, were you as shocked by last night’s results as I was? Tell us here.

Be sure to tune in next week for the 200th episode of “Dancing With The Stars,” and  then check in with us the next day for our recap. See you then!
