Saturdays in the Park with Limón

June 1, 2017

Yes, I know summer doesn’t *officially* kick off until June 21, but tomorrow at 10 am, I’ll be feeling all of the #summervibes.

Why? That’s the first Moves with Limón Dance of 2017. In my humble opinion one of the best “secret” freebies of an NYC summer, these open-level modern dance classes happen every Saturday from 10 to 11 am in Bryant Park through September 30.

Just think about it: If you attended every class they’re offering this summer, that’s 18 absolutely free dance classes (with live music!) taught by current and former members of the José Limón Dance Company. Compare that oh-so-nice price to the $15+ you’ll typically pay for a single open class anywhere else in NYC, and you’ve got yourself a pretty sweet deal.

And (again, in my very humble opinion) every dancer should try taking class outdoors at least once. Not only does it teach you to keep an open and flexible mind—hello, too-bright sunlight and curious passersby—but there’s also something seriously magical about moving your body in the middle of nature, where you can ground yourself on the (literal) earth beneath you.

See you in class tomorrow morning, DS-ers!
