Happy Friday! It’s a gorgeous day here in NYC and it should be an awesome performance-filled weekend.

Sunday afternoon I am going to the Fall for Dance festival—an amazing 10-day extravaganza. Thirty companies perform their best works on a mixed program, so you have a tapper followed by a ballet dancer followed by a hip hopper or modern dancer. You get the picture. But it’s not just any jazz or ballet dancer—it’s the best in the world! Sunday I am seeing the Lyon Opera Ballet, Johan Kobborg (ballet), Mats Ek (modern), Mariela Franganillo (Argentine tango) and 10 Foot 5 (tap). All for $10! It’s a really ingenious way of getting poor dancers (and non-dancers) to the theater to see great art.

And Sunday night (yes, two shows in one day—all for you!), I am attending Kat’s dance performance! I’m really excited. I performed at that same space three years ago with May Dance, another modern dance company. It’s a cool space—all the way on the west side of Manhattan, overlooking the Hudson River. And it has a sort of special air because it’s where the Merce Cunningham Company rehearses.

OK! Go to the “Talk to Us” link on this site and write to me.  I want to hear all your brilliant thoughts about dance, life, the magazine and anything else that strikes your fancy.

love,

Abby
