choreographer extraordinaire Trey McIntyre and his dancers have finally said “I do”—to a full-blown company based in Boise, ID, that is. “We had such an amazing response from touring; presenters were offering to book us more, but I was careful to move forward with baby steps,” says McIntyre. “But at a certain point, you can only either stand still or leap. I chose to leap.”

Trey assembled 10 accomplished dancers culled from auditions, submissions and long-standing relationships. “I look for strong technique and creative movers,” he says. “I’m also interested in who the dancers are as people: Are they kind, professional and brave?”

After finding performers who fit this bill, the troupe took their first group bow at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in August. Now, catch them in action as they tour the country. For dates, go to treymcintyre.com. —LK
