Um, the "Smash" Musical Bombshell MIGHT LIVE AGAIN

June 22, 2015

YOU GUYS: THERE IS NOW DEFINITIVE PROOF THAT THE UNIVERSE IS ON OUR SIDE.

Ahem:

Remember when “Smash,” that deliciously song-and-dance-y primetime drama, introduced us to Bombshell, a fictional musical about Marilyn Monroe—and we all collectively hoped and prayed that Bombshell would get to have a real life onstage, even if just for a moment?

Remember a few weeks ago, when a concert version of Bombshell ACTUALLY DID GET a one-night-only benefit performance at the Minskoff Theater in NYC—and we all collectively hoped and prayed that that one-off show might give rise to a full-fledged Broadway run?

Well, it seems our dreams have come true yet again, dance friends: Yesterday, Universal Stage Productions revealed it’s developing Bombshell into a big, beautiful, fully-staged musical.

We don’t know if Joshua Bergasse, who created fabulous dances for both the TV show and the benefit production, will choreograph. We don’t know if Megan Hilty, who knocked our socks off as Ivy Lynn on “Smash,” will play Marilyn (let her be our starrrrrrrrr!). Heck, we don’t even know if the darn thing will make it to Broadway. But we do know that the wheels are in motion, ladies and gentlemen, and that’s enough to get us singing and dancing for joy.

So…this seems like as good a time as any to start pulling for a Hit List Broadway run, amirite?
