Recap: Top 20 Elimination

June 29, 2009

Last night’s elimination episode wasn’t all too shocking or emotional. We predicted that Tony and Paris would be the ones to go. They’re definitely good dancers and great people (we always found Tony to be quite charming), but the rest of the competitors are stronger. It’s going to be one heck of a season! The interesting thing is that the judges were unanimous—doubt that would’ve happened if a controversial contestant like Brandon was up for discussion. Nigel tweeted this last night right before the decision was announced: “It’s very strange. We are live on television deciding the fate of two unfortunate dancers. It is so subjective but we are in agreement!” But after the dancers were cut, Adam Shankman was still feeling bummed. He tweeted, “Looking into the eyes of the dancers you cut is so heartbreaking, it’s my least favorite part of the show. It all became very scary and real. Barf.” Eek! We hope you feel better Adam. But we know Shane Sparks is feeling peaceful. He tweeted this on Wednesday night, “Going to sleep now…I can never sleep the night before I do a Top 20 for SYTYCD.” His dancers performed fabulously to “Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas (it was sassy and buck!), so he should be able to doze off just fine! What’d you think of 20 choreography? Which solos were your faves? And did the judged make the right choice?
