When and Where to Watch the 2024 Olympic Breaking Competition
In just a few days, breaking will make its much-anticipated Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Games. 16 b-boys and 16 b-girls will compete battle-style to sold-out stadium crowds, the culmination of years of advocating, planning, and training.
Dancers and dance fans around the world are eager to cheer on the breakers. But when and where can those of us not lucky enough to be in Paris watch them go for the gold?
When It’s Happening
The Olympic competition includes two events: one for b-boys, one for b-girls.
The women will compete first, on August 9, with preliminary battles running from 10 am to 12 pm ET and the final happening later the same day, 2 pm to 4 pm ET.
The men will follow the same schedule the next day, August 10, with qualifiers from 10 am to 12 pm ET and the final from 2 pm to 4 pm ET.
Where It’s Happening
Breaking events will be held right in the heart of Paris, at the Parc Urbain in the Place de la Concorde. The open-air stadium is also home to the Olympic skateboarding, BMX freestyle, and 3×3 basketball competitions.

You can stream all the breaking events live on Peacock. Breaking will also be featured in NBC’s primetime Olympic coverage at 8 pm ET on August 9th and 10th.
Who to Watch

What to Watch For
The dancers will start by competing in one-on-one battles in a round-robin schedule. The top eight will advance to a “knockout” stage, in which they’ll be seeded into brackets. Bracket winners will progress from quarterfinals to semifinals to finals, with the winner being awarded Olympic gold. Judges will score dancers based on five criteria: execution, technique, originality, musicality, and vocabulary. Learn more about the competition structure and scoring here.
