Winner Melinda Sullivan (third from left) at the 2012 Capezio A.C.E. Awards (photo by Matthew Murphy) We’ve been getting super pumped up about this year’s Capezio A.C.E. (Award for Choreographic Excellence) Awards for the past several months: We’ve been reminiscing about past winners—like Travis Wall, Melinda Sullivan, and Peter Chu—and encouraging you to put your […]
Chocolates, flowers, teddy bears, greeting cards—they’re all fine. But what really gets our hearts fluttering? Dance, duh. OK, more specifically, we’re in love with dances about love. So to celebrate Valentine’s Day, we collected some of our favorite romantic duets from a show we also happen to love: “So You Think You Can Dance.” We […]
Love Shaping Sound? Live in or around or, you know, within flying distance of NYC? We’ve got good news for you, folks. The super-hot company, created by four guys you may have heard of—Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance and Kyle Robinson—will be giving three special performances on Sunday, January 12 at NYC’s Roseland Ballroom. Yesterday was the big day—and it looks like #bosswedding2013 was just as magical as, well, pretty much every moment of Allison Holker and Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s too-cute-for-words courtship! The nuptials were full of “So You Think You Can Dance” love: Not only did the couple have their ceremony at producer Nigel Lythgoe’s vineyard, but Will […]

[…]
If you’re like me, you were really, really sad for the first half of last night’s Emmy Awards. Song-and-dance king Neil Patrick Harris was hosting, and we’d been promised big, dance-y things. But for more than an hour there was nary a dancer in sight. Then came the middle of the show. And there was […]
I love the Throwback Thursday (hashtag it: #tbt) trend on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram—especially when my favorite dancers tag themselves in hilarious little kid recital photos. Another thing I love? Getting lost in the internet, re-watching all of my favorite dance performances from “So You Think You Can Dance,” the Dance Spirit Cover Model Search […]
This week, the Top 8 were choreographed by—and partnered with—eight “So You Think You Can Dance” All Stars. I kind of love it when “SYTYCD” throws us a curveball like that. And it’s a risky premise: Artists are usually at the top of their game as either dancers or as choreographers, but rarely as both […]
