The New Gucci Campaign Pays Tribute to Old Movie Musicals—And It's Stunning

February 3, 2019

It’s no secret that here at Dance Spirit, we stan a fashion/dance collab. And the latest one we’re adding to our list of faves? Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2019 campaign.

The glamorous new collection pays tribute to Hollywood’s Golden Age. So naturally, the campaign video recreates iconic movie musical moments (like Gene Kelly tapping in Singin’ in the Rain and Marilyn Monroe in Gentleman Prefer Blondes) to the tune of Irving Berlin’s “There’s No Business Like Show Business.” The brand says it wanted the collection to evoke the”joyful outlook of the famous musical films of the ’40s and ’50s.” And they nailed it, tbh.

Although they could have crammed even more dance into those two dreamy minutes, mainstream fashion paying tribute to dancing queens like Cyd Charisse and Debbie Reynolds is never a bad thing in our book.

Check out the video below and see if you can spot all the famous recreations:
